The UNC Neuroscience Microscopy Core (NMC) provides a full spectrum of advanced systems for cellular and molecular imaging of in vitro and in vivo samples. In addition to providing access to high-resolution imaging technologies, the NMC also implements new imaging technologies, particularly related to real-time and tissue clearing based imaging of neurodevelopment and neural functions, and provides training, consultation, data analysis, image processing, and centralized technical expertise to support the imaging needs of neuroscientists.
Attention:
Please note that new rates for microscope use, training fees, and consulting will go into effect on February 1st, 2023. These rate changes are a part of the normal review process involving the Office of Sponsored Research. For more information please see our website
New users must be trained before they can use the equipment. Training requests can be submitted here. Check the UNC NMC Website for more information on how to get started.
The Neuroscience Microscopy Core is supported, in part, by funding from the NIH-NICHD Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center Support Grant U54 HD079124, the S10 OD032388 (Zeiss LSM 980 confocal microscope system), and the S10 MH130455 (ASI ct-dSPIM microscope system). We require citing the facility in the acknowledgments section of any publication which has results obtained with the microscopes in the NMC. We suggest using the following language for this acknowledgement:
"Microscopy was performed at the UNC Neuroscience Microscopy Core (RRID:SCR_019060), supported, in part, by funding from the NIH-NICHD Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center Support Grant P50 HD103573."
5114 Mary Ellen Jones Building, Chapel Hill, NC 27599
